Inspired by the Boston Science Club for Girls, the Young Academy under the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, have initiated a new mentor program for primary schoolers called “Videnskabsklubben” (The Science Club).

The Science club creates a program for enthusiastic children, who wish to explore the natural world. Junior mentors from 8th-9th grade act as junior mentors for a group of mini-scientists from 3rd-5th grade.

For the year 2017, we design a new theme named “the Microbial World and the Evolution of Life”. Biochemist Søren Overballe-Petersen will design experiments and a professional team from the outreach department at the Natural History Museum of Denmark will create the manual for the junior mentors.

The Lundbeck Foundation has sponsored the Science Club through 2018.
